Exterior Design Comparison

The Edge has a sporty and elegant exterior design. Some of the key exterior features that come standard on the Edge include 18-inch aluminum wheels with a Sparkle Silver paint, a bold grille, and a body-coloured rear spoiler. The edge also comes standard with Bi-LED headlights, which perfectly combine both high beams and low beams into one brilliant stream of light. The Edge also comes standard with LED daytime running lamps and LED taillamps to help improve visibility.

The Escape has a more athletic exterior design. Like the Edge, the Escape also comes with a sleek, body-coloured rear spoiler. It only comes standard with 17-inch steel wheels, but the wheels come with Sparkle Silver-painted covers. There are 18-inch wheels available. A pair of chrome exhaust tips help to round out the Escape's stunning and sporty exterior design.

Interior Technology Features

The Escape comes standard with a 4.2-inch display; however, a larger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display is available. The larger display is powered by Ford's innovative Sync 3 System that comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is available as well as a built-in navigation system and a heads-up display.

Sitting in the centre of the dash of the Ford Edge is an extra-large 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display. This massive display uses Ford's Sync 4A operating system and comes standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Like the Escape, the Edge also offers an optional built-in navigation system.

Interior Cargo and Passenger Capacity

Both the Edge and Escape offer two rows of seating and are able to comfortably fit up to five people. However, the Edge does offer slightly more passenger space and interior cargo space.

The Escape provides up to 2,945 litres of total passenger volume. It also provides up to 869 litres of cargo space behind the second-row seats.

The Edge, however, is able to provide up to 3,225.4 litres of passenger space and offers up to 1,110.8 litres of cargo space behind the second-row seats.

Safety Features

Safety is the top priority in both the Edge and the Escape. Both of the vehicles come standard with a variety of safety features. They also come standard with Ford's Co-Pilot 360 technologies, which add a suite of driver-assist features to the vehicle.

Both of these vehicles offer a variety of impressive engines to choose from. The Edge offers two gas-powered engine options, and the Escape offers two gas-powered engine options as well as an available hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Ford Edge:
• 2.0-litre I-4 turbocharged engine with EcoBoost delivers 250 horsepower and is able to get an estimated 11.6 L/100km in the city and 8.5 L/100km on the highway.
• Available 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 twin-turbo engine that is able to deliver 335 horsepower and gets an estimated 12.6 L/100km in the city and 9.3 L/100km on the highway.

Ford Escape:
• 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine delivers 181 horsepower and gets an estimated 8.5 L/100km in the city and 6.8 L/100km on the highway.
• 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine delivers 250 horsepower and gets an estimated 10.5 L/100km in the city and 7.5 L/100km on the highway.
• 2.5-litre I-4 Hybrid engine delivers 221 Horsepower and gets an estimated 5.4 L/100km in the city and 6.3 L/100km on the highway.
• 2.5-litre I-4 Plug-In Hybrid engine gets an estimated 2.2 L/100km in the city and 2.2 L/100km on the highway.
